i went boarding today again. day 3. it was freezing. i’m learning how to ride my toeside! getting there slowly. still love it!
my aim for the season = 100 days of boarding.

Soooo today is the BESTEST day on my holiday yet! Yes, it may just beat the day i went to Alcatraz!!!
I had my first snowboarding lesson!!! And then me and another girl from my lesson did the Hummingbird Run three times!!!
I’m just uploading some photos of me before I go out! The lesson was so cool!
One of my duty managers was in there, and so was another girl I knew from Beanos which is like a little coffee shop up here! There’s only two lifts open at the moment. The plaza, which basically goes from the bottom into the village and has a small green (easy/beginnier) run off it. Theres also the Ridge Rocket, which goes further.
I only went on the plaza today but that was cool! I stacked it everytime I came off the lift haha but nevermind! once i even ran into this little kid! poor kid! But his dad was reallly nice (and luckily holding him when I ran into him!).
Anyway tomorrow I’ve got another lesson! And they should teach me to turn ! yay! Then, I’m going to the top with some mates!! I’m so exxxcited!!
Just a quickie to post the photos of my board etc. Started work ‘for real’ today. But, as theres been no snow the mountain hasn’t opened, so we had no people to check in. I played hangman. haha Work tomorrow and Saturday which should slowly pick up! yay! Then I can hit the slopes on Sunday !!! 
Woo! What a day!
I got woken up to a phone call sayin’ a had a ride to Kelowna (this is like a dream come true for people up here !!!!)
So i rugged up (’cause I’ve been sicking - I’m trying to keep warm and dry) and ran all the way to Trailside (which is like the bottom-ish of the village). Anndd we went to town!!!!
I bought gloves (thermal and waterproof), a head scarf, a new beanie (its so cool - its like a proper one with ear covers and its wool with a thermal layer and has blue & green stripes on it) and I bought goggles!
So now I’m all set!!!! yayayayay I may be *totally* broke but I’ve got everything I need to slope my winter away! I’m so excited.
Problem: we’ve had NO snow for like four days AND the mountains looking like it wont open on time 
Sad Days. This also means my hotel is going to have customers, with no lifts (uh - oh!). So this will be intersting 
So i’ve done another big shop! And I’ve even bought myself a book. The days can be a bit slow going so I figured I’d get some reading in and keep all those ’skills’ up or something. I just wanted some light reading… and something cheap! So, I ended up with a new Robert Fisk book which is MASSIVE its like 4cm thick and it’s the most amazing story. The preface I could’ve used in my honours thesis - so it’s not exactly easy reading but it’s REALLY cool!
So today is also Nomi’s birthday today !!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY <3
So yeah, i’ve just shopped today, read my book (it’s very cool) and wondered around Kelowna. It’s nice to get down the mountain.
Well yes, that is all for now! Tomorrow is the offical ‘Big White’ Orientation and we have a 3hour motivational speech! Not too exciting but should be intersting

Just a quick one to show you a picture of my first ever snowfall! I was so excited so Pamela took a photo - but you can’t really tell eh? There was so much ‘fog’ (which we’ve now been told is the ‘f-word’ and we can’t call it that around customers, its ‘low lying cloud cover’) that we could barely see where we were going! But it was so exciting
hello there people. Finally I’ve got onto this crazy internet.
So whats been happening? I’ve been at Big White for the last 2.5 weeks Yay. I’ve seen it snow, i’ve played in the snow, i’ve met heaps of people, i’ve started work (training), i’ve got a place to live, i’ve got used to the weather and don’t think its cold until we reach -10.
I spent most of last week at the pub. Snowshoe Sams. It’s the ONLY place open up here and the only place to play pool. Stayin at the hostel got a bit boring. I contemplated staying at the hostel and working 15hours there to pay my rent. But, I decided I wouldn’t ’cause lets face it - i didn’t come here to work my ass off. Yes, I may leave this place broke but I’m going to have a good time!!!!
I’ve fallen in love with being away. travelling is fantastic and there is SO many people who are keen to run away to the east coast with me after.
Basically, I’m like (and I quote) 56km SE of Kelowna, which is in BC Canada. I’m about 5000ft high. And its BEAUTIFUL. I’ll have to get my ass into gear and i SHOULD have some internet at my house within the next couple days. So then I’ll post some photos
Anyway, everything is really good. The view here is magnifient. At first, I was totally dissapointed. Not much is open so its a bt of a drag.
Tonight is Warren Miller night at Sams - do you know who that is? I don’t, but hey I’m learning He’s an oldskool snowboarder. Everyone is going! How exciting Best bit is I can drink at home and not pay for drinks once I’m out!!! Special!
